Well, if you frequent any of the Ontario Provincial Parks, you know that you generally have to make reservations way in advance.
So this weekend's plans started a couple of months ago. We thought we'd put together a gang and get a couple of camp sites and have a great weekend. But one thing led to another and in the end it was the Grypers and us off to Arrowhead Park outside of Huntsville. The Grypers beat us up there, but not by much.
We got a great camp site across the road from the Grypers, but I almost got carried off by all the mosquitoes and blackflies ! By the time I'd got the RV all set up, everybody else had taken refuge in the RV, never to be seen again out-of-doors without the protection of their Lee Valley bug suits. The picture to the right is Wendy ready to take off on her bicycle with Muggins riding shotgun. We spent a lot of time riding our bikes around the park. It was one of the only ways to spend time outside without getting eaten alive by the flyin' little critters.
Earlier in the week, Wendy and her Mum had been chatting about the weekend and decided that they would each cook one of the dinners. So Friday night, after we all got settled and got our first cocktail under our belts, Thelma figured it was time to start dinner preparations. Wouldn't you know it - we'd both brought the same stuff for dinner. But those prime rib burgers were great anyway !
