The CabooseWe decided that we'd start the season off by attending an RV Safety Caravan to see if we know what we don't know.  Dan and Roberta Romanko really put together a good trip and they've figured out an effective way to present all the really important stuff.

We started off spending two nights down in Cobourg with seminars two or three times a day.  They brought in a fellow from Durham Radio who talked about radios and GPS equipment.  Then we travelled east along the 401 to Napanee with a stop at the Flying J truck stop.  This was really worthwhile because we all got to get our rigs weighed so that we know generally what our axle weights are.  We spent two nights at Rideau Acres (picture right).  They also brought in Jamie Russell from JR's RV Service who talked about the various systems in RV's.  Then it was off to Richmond for the last couple of nights.  Richmond was very cool because we stayed on the fairgrounds.  Dan and Alex and Gord set up an excellent RV rodeo and gave everyone a chance to take their rig through some real-life scenarios and get in some good practise.  This was the best.  Wendy did really good backing up The Caboose.

We met some really nice people.  Yvan and Francine are from Burlington and were also hauling a Titanium so we ended up spending some time with them.  We'll be seeing them again in August when they're in Haliburton for some courses.

So then it was time to head home.  It turns out there were three rigs all headed back to Haliburton so we all travelled back together in our own little caravan with a mandatory ice cream stop at Kawartha Dairies in Bancroft.

It was a really worthwhile week.
